Yes, you are right. Because of this bug, I can't select Italian language in GDM (better: I can select Italian but Gnome still default to english). Instead, on my Hardy fresh install (7 days ago, not Gutsy upgraded) the gnome language is correct (the bug here above still manifests itself).
