Binary package hint: libsane-extras
libsane-extras contains the epkowa driver. This driver links to the
non-free libesmod drivers provided by EPSON KOWA. These non-free
drivers are compiled for a 32-bit arch.
I am running a Hardy Heron in a 64-bit environment and my scanner fails
to initialize. Sprinkling debug output in the libsane-epkowa shows that
the driver causes a segfault when it attempts to load libesmod.
A linux32 version of EPKOWA's 'iscan' also fails to load the sane
libraries since their compiled for a 64-bit arch.
