1) The point of using the "Shutdown" setting is precisely because of wanting to override the "Interactive" logout. 2) Choosing "Interactive" logout in g-p-m does still not work: regression: pressing power button no longer brings up logout dialog https://launchpad.net/bugs/57872 I would have guessed that when pressing the power button with the "Shutdown" setting in g-p-m some script would have been executed to save the gnome session before terminating all processes, but it is apparently not so, so I'll keep investigating -any further information will be very welcome.
