Attached xorg log and config. Hardware: AMD Athlon64 3200+, 2GB memory, nVidia 6600 PCIE I am running dapper/AMD64 with nVidia drivers supplied by linux-restricted packages
Found out that if I run "kcmshell background" I get an empty module window (buttons at the bottom but no controls in the window), whereas it appears the rest of the desktop modules are working. (actually, I see this behavior on other machines, so it may be unrelated or a separate bug entirely) Also, if I set my background to "No picture" it _seems_ to crash less frequently, so possibly there's a race condition that depends on the time it takes to render the background preview image?
