I think the developers should be a little more forthcoming about sound issues in Hardy and not drag their feet only asking for more information. For example, it was well documented that certain updates of Hardy Alpha did not recognize sound cards and then this was fixed in the next update. So someone in development noticed a problem and worked on it and this could be confirmed here. And I assume someone is working on the recognized fact that upgrades to Hardy Beta install two kernels, one of which does not recognize sound devices, while the other does. In general, ubuntu has a hard time with sound, and the DebuggingSOundProblems directions that we are sent to when there is a problem is just a symptom of the problem. The debugging steps need to be streamlined and unified. You want too many things, and that's a sign that nobodyis going to be in a good position to integrate the issues and solve the ongoing sound problems.
