I think the developers should be a little more forthcoming
about sound issues in Hardy and not drag their feet only
asking for more information. For example, it was well
documented that certain updates of Hardy Alpha did not
recognize sound cards and then this was fixed in the
next update. So someone in development noticed a
problem and worked on it and this could be confirmed
here. And I assume someone is working on the recognized
fact that upgrades to Hardy Beta install two kernels, one
of which does not recognize sound devices, while the other
does. In general, ubuntu has a hard time with sound,
and the DebuggingSOundProblems directions that we
are sent to when there is a problem is just a symptom
of the problem. The debugging steps need to be streamlined
and unified. You want too many things, and that's a
sign that nobodyis going to be in a good position to
integrate the issues and solve the ongoing sound problems.
