Sorry, I did not mean to "insult your intelligence". It's just a FAQ and a common misconception. I apologize.
> $ jockey-kde -C > Should throw out an error that I'm not root. No, it shouldn't. The entire idea of this option is to call it from the GNOME or KDE control center when enabling a compositing window manager, to check whether a restricted driver needs to be installed. It should check whether that's necessary (which can happen without root privileges) and then call adept through kdesu (or synaptics through gksu on GNOME) to install the missing video driver and configure it in xorg.conf. It currently does not ask the user for confirmation whether to really install the driver; that's bug 202898, and I'll fix it soon. But there is no way that the entire driver installation can happen without you entering your password in kdesu at least once. So, please, can you describe exactly what you did? If you try it again, please do "sudo -K" before calling "jockey-kde -C" to ensure that you do not have a sudo ticket. -- jockey-kde -C doesn't require sudo https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/206957 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
