Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-panel

I have a usb bluetooth adapter, and everything was working just fine on
gutsy, until today I turned on my computer and noticed the bluetooth
icon had disapeared.

I tried restarting bluetooth with sudo /etc/init.d/bluetooth restart
which gives:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ sudo /etc/init.d/bluetooth restart
[sudo] password for maurice:
 * Restarting Bluetooth services                                         [ OK ]

but the Icon still doesn't display

so i tried lsusb with the bluetooth adapter plugged in which gives:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ lsusb

Bus 002 Device 001: ID 0000:0000

Bus 003 Device 003: ID 0a5c:4500 Broadcom Corp.
Bus 003 Device 001: ID 0000:0000

and with the bluetooth adapter not plugged in which gives:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ lsusb

Bus 002 Device 001: ID 0000:0000

So it's obviously being detected however hcitool scan gives the
following:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ hcitool scan
Device is not available: No such device

and hcitool dev gives:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ hcitool dev
Devices:

I unplugged the dongle several times and plugged it back in to no
avail... I don't understand, it was working just fine before I went to
school, I come home and try and turn on a song with my wiimote to see
that it can't connect because Ubuntu isn't detecting my usb dongle!

I also restarted ubuntu several times, and went into windows xp to see
if everything was working, which it was I transferred a file to my phone
no problem.

After booting to windows, it still doesn't work. For some reason though,
right as I was typing this up it fixed. I don't know what I did though.
I'm guessing it had something to do with windows detecting it then going
into ubuntu after, but i've never had to do that before.
