Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: pidgin

When pidgin is set to launch automatically upon login and the "Blink on
new Message" setting is enabled, the space taken up in the notification
area is much larger than it should be when blinking. It actually grows
and shrinks as the icon blinks. This only happens with pidgin, but very
few applications have icons that blink in the notification area.

This only appears to happen when pidgin is configured to start
automatically. Perhaps it has to do with the order in which things are
launched while logging in.

Manually exiting and then re-launching pidgin fixes the problem until
the next login.

I am running the latest Hardy beta, but I believe this happens in gutsy
as well.

** Affects: pidgin (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
