Public bug reported:

I installed command line system using Xubuntu 7.10 Alternate CD and now
command "sudo shutdown -P now" does not power off in my old desktop PC.
It worked fine when I had (GUI) Xubuntu Dapper in it. I have changed
partitioning and hard disk: now there is e.g a separate /var partition
as mount point of /dev/sda6. I get this kind of output at the end of the
execution:

umount2: Device or resource busy
umount: /dev/sda6 busy - remounted read-only
*Will now halt
halt: Unable to iterate IDE devices: No such file or directory

I upgraded system and the problem continues to exist.

** Affects: ubuntu
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
