So the gist is: to be portable you need to use [[:lower:]] or
[[:upper:]] instead of [a-z] or [A-Z]. Or you could set LC_COLLATE to C
or POSIX, which gives you the traditional ordering abc...xyzABC...XYZ.

I'm marking this as invalid since the behavior is expected and
apparently specified by POSIX even, and there are several workarounds.
