I have been able to get the tracker-applet back... I noticed that I had 2 instances of trackerd running. So I disabled Tracker via the Preferences -> Search and Indexing, then I killed both instances of trackerd, then re-enabled tracker in preferences, et voila, it works fine now. Hopefully it will work for you too Kyle.
