Setting the value with root permission automatically seems to set it for
my regular user with the same values. I just verified this on my system.

So after editing the values, both my root and regular user on my system have 
the exact same values showing for both keys. I don't know what is overriding 
those values, but something in the system seems to really ignore the changed 
settings.
Rebooting doesn't work either.

If there is anything else I can check for you to clarify the problem,
please let me know.
