Hi Andre
In order to access the sources list you should precede the path with the editor 
of your choice.
Since your package installer is broken I suggest you use vi or nano.  Nano is 
easier to use where vi is an acquired taste.
So your command line would look like this 
>nano /etc/apt/sources.list
Ordinarily you would disable repository's through synaptic or software  sources 
in the administration menu.  When this problem occurs synaptic may not be 
working.
If you search the lists you should also find additional help on recovering from 
this problem.
