memtest86+ says memory is ok. The problem exists in the standard Ubuntu-
kernel, and only with the 'arcmsr'-module (I use an Areca-raid-
controller). I installed on a stand-alone harddisk, built a custom
kernel (vanilla 2.6.17 + areca-patch from mm-tree). After that I
partitioned my Areca-raid-volume, put LVM on it, tar-ed my install to
the new volume, ran grub-install and after the reboot, my system is just
fine. So, I think, the problem is in the standard Ubuntu-kernel.
