I had a similar problem after a new install w/ the Hardy Beta where after
installation my wired ethernet would only load ipv6. After looking around I
found that in /etc/network/interfaces the eth0 line didn't have auto infont of
it.
EX. eth0
iface eth0 inet dhcp
After I changed it to "auto eth0" everything worked great after that.
Not sure if this helps but thought I would throw it out there.
