Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: mplayer

Since compiz-fusion now ships with ubuntu, it would be nice to have
support for its video plugin on the most popular video players (totem-
gstreamer, totem-xine and mplayer).

For mplayer, particularly, there is a patch released on compiz-fusion's
official website (http://wiki.compiz-fusion.org/Plugins/Video). Maybe
this patch could be a good starting point for patches for the other
players. Meanwhile, providing the patched mplayer would be fine.

The plugin speeds up playback a lot, and is reported to be necessary for
intel users to have certain features.

(i'm currently using up-to-date hardy amd64)

** Affects: mplayer (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
