The problem is the following bit in the volumeid.postinst:

if [ -n "$2" ] && dpkg --compare-versions "$2" lt "093-0ubuntu5"; then
mount_by_uuid_conversion
fi
volumeid is not available on dapper yet so its not installed and $2 is
empty.
