Public bug reported:
I`ve failed to set up the wireless network by means of Network Manager on
Ubuntu 8.04 beta, installed on ASUS A3FC notebook. Network interface (Intel
3495ABG) is found and working properly. Once launched it and tried to set up
the wireless interface, I`ve seen my wl point`s id and clicked on it. After
that i`ve entered the WPA personal key and all the fixed IP`s i need (i do not
use DHCP). Nothing happened after that and i`ve never seen my network ESSID
after that. Looking at dmesg messages i`ve found something called 'error 2'
(can`t remember now exactly, but i can try to reproduce it, while loosing the
connection and going offline).
Then I went to set it up manually, created the /etc/wpa_supplicant.conf file
and put there the generated key and needed info. Also edited the
/etc/network/interfaces file and put the info there. Finally, after the reboot
it works.
But the Network Manager still don`t detect any wireless network and there isn`t
any one in nm-editor.
What i`ve expected: the wl network must work after i enter the keys and
all the stuff in network manager, otherwise it`s just useless to a
simple user.
Should I provide more info?
