I have the same problem with a clean Ubuntu Hardy 8.04 installation.

I can copy some big files but others I can't. The original file isn't
corrupted. The transfer speed is very very slow. I attach my log files.
In windows works fine.

The pendrive is a 8Gb USB 2.0 Flash Disk  in a Linux 2.6.24-12-generic
