It's not just the tech support but the bug reporting mechanism. When applications crash, it's easy to file a bug report because you're stepped through it by the wizard that's triggered by the crash. But if you just want to report a dodgy dialog layout or a keyboard shortcut not working (or anything that hasn't actually caused the application to crash), it's less obvious how to do it.
