Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: network-manager
It appears that NetworkManager can get confused when resuming from
suspend and re-enabling the network interfaces. It can believe that
eth0 (wired) is in use because of an avahi interface, and thus display
the wired icon in the panel. However, it has also successfully re-
enabled the eth1 (wireless) interface. In the dropdown the wired
interface radio button is checked but the menu entry is grayed out; the
selected wireless network is correctly displayed as checked.
This may have been caused by a spurious indication of link on eth0 and
improper avahi cleanup? See attached ifconfig and two snippets from
/var/log/daemon.log...
** Affects: network-manager (Ubuntu)
