Public bug reported:
After while and sometimes right after logging in, the mouse pointer gets
a bit blurry (not redrawn I think) and some line of small dots appear
around the pointer. It could be a rectangle of such lines. It started
about 2 weeks ago. I tried to install hardy, same thing, I reinstalled a
fresh Gutsy Ubuntu Studio, same thing. This disappears if I hit several
times F5. When I shut down, the resolution of the screen has changed on
the shutdown screen (it's centered bottom right and bigger). If I just
restart without stopping the system, the start logo (the one of the
computer - ASUS, and the Ubuntu studio one is also bigger and badly
centered). Those screen are also corrupted (colored dots everywhere). I
solved by adding Option "SWCursor" "yes" in the xorg.conf. I'm on a ASUS
A7Vc laptop. No matter if I use free or non free driver. No matter if I
activate or not my wacom tablet. It appears on a brand new install after
the numerous updates following the CD install. On Gnome desktop, it
affects only the mouse pointer, not the rest of the screen. The mouse
pointer is still active (motions, click...). This bug do not appear when
running Gutsy live CD or running Windows, so I don't Thing it's hardware
issue. But If, when the bug appears I restart (not stop system) and
start on windows OS, windows start splash screen is affected (ugly). The
only solution is to stop the system and restart. If I add "SWCursor" in
xorg and just restart GDM, the bug disappears.
