Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: hal-info

Today Wcid didn't work for me anymore.
In ~/.xsession-errors I noticed:

dbus.exceptions.DBusException: org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NoReply: Did
not receive a reply. Possible causes include: the remote application did
not send a reply, the message bus security policy blocked the reply, the
reply timeout expired, or the network connection was broken.

So I investigated a little about latest updates and downgraded hal-info:

$ sudo dpkg -i /var/cache/apt/archives/hal-
info_20080317+git20080318-1ubuntu2_all.deb

Now it works again.
