Public bug reported:
I have tried the Ubuntu Hardy Beta i386 desktop CD (and Kubuntu...) and
am running happily on several systems. I have checked the CDs with
md5sum and all files are OK.
On one of my computers all install options will lead to a busybox prompt
(whether I do the install, try the live cd, or ask it to check the disc
for defects). Doesn't matter whether using the ubuntu or kubuntu disc.
I would be happy to post more information about this, but I'm not sure
what would be useful, or how to do any further troubleshooting.
The computer where the installer fails to boot is currently running
Gutsy, so if there are gutsy tools that I can run to give a useful
summary of the hardware, please let me know. Otherwise, what comes to
mind here:
Asus A8N32-SLI Deluxe Motherboard
AMD Opteron 175 (using default motherboard speeds, no overclocking)
2GM DRAM (using default motherboard speeds, no overclocking)
7800GT w/256M
