Public bug reported: 1. Playback. By default, on clean install, Surround speakers are muted, which are considered/used as primary speakers while playing any sounds. Changing volume on Front speakers have no effect on sound playback. So basically Surround is considered as Front. Note that this laptop has 4.1 speakers (2 front, 2 surround, subwoofer). Solution for playback: unmute Surround and use its volume control as it was Front.
2. Recording. There is 7 sliders in Recording section in alsa mixer: Capture, Capture1, Capture2, Digital, Mux, Mux1, Mux2. Build-in two (as stereo) microphones works only if Capture and Mux are unmuted, but Mux slider acts weird - can't be positioned between ~90 - ~99%, because it "jumps" to lower position or up to 100%. Also setting it to 100% makes recording sound bad, noisy, as it was overloaded. Solution for recording from mic: select Capture as main recording stream, and lower Mux volume. 3. Audio jacks. The laptop has 4 rear jacks for 5.1 output (Front, Surround, Center, Subwoofer). None of those work as output, putting jack in any doesn't affect playback (no muting or whatsoever). I have found no solution for that.
