I've never had any problem playing videos anywhere else, at least not to
the point where it hard locked my system. I use totem-xine, vlc and
mplayer and have never had it lock my system up. Yes I use Compiz and I
didn't try disabling it, I've since removed miro though as hard
rebooting my laptop repeatedly was not sounding like something I wanted
to do.
