For me, going to a terminal and running "sudo aptitude install liblaunchpad-integration1" ran smoothly and fixed the issue by automatically configuring the partially installed packages 'evolution', 'evolution-exchange', and 'evolution-plugins'. Afterwards, the update tray icon and GUI returned to a normal and functional state. Can anyone else duplicate this?
