Details:
1. ubuntu hardy(development branch), release 8.04
2. unable to locate package name

the following are the sequence of events

1. sharing options
2. on folder sharing window "sharing folder has been checked"
3. warning window popup "Sharing service is not installed"
4. choose install service
5. error window appears 
         "E: dpkg was interrupted, you must manually run 'dpkg --configure -a' 
to correct the problem. 
         E: _cache->open() failed, please report."
6. closed window
7. back on folder sharing window "create share button" is clicked
8. error message appears 
         "Samba's testparm returned error 1: Load smb config files from 
/etc/samba/smb.conf
           Processing section "[printers]"
           Processing section "[print$]"
           Loaded services file OK.
           ERROR: lock directory /var/run/samba does not exist
           ERROR: pid directory /var/run/samba does not exist"


NOTE: in addition, when opening synaptic package manager, 
same error on item #5 appears upon loading of the window
