I have this issue in Thunderbird as well. I also have it in Firefox via the DownThemAll! extension, which has an option to play a sound when the download has finished.
Last time I looked at this, this was the most likely culprit: http://lxr.mozilla.org/seamonkey/source/widget/src/gtk2/nsSound.cpp Some data points: 1) I don't know if this is always the case, but the last few times I've rebooted, my mail notification has been truncated as soon as I've started Thunderbird, even if it's the first app to start. i.e. there are no obvious culprits that are conflicting with or breaking Seamonkey sound playback. 2) The truncation comes and goes. My Thunderbird/DTA wavs aren't getting cut off at the moment. 3) Here are some links I found the last time I sleuthed this. The latter suggests that the issue may be cross-platform: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=583482 http://forums.slamd64.com/viewtopic.php?p=4309&sid=75ab03d09990aa1986b2c7aa60580f71 http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?t=563804#2952683 4) I have the following esd-flavoured packages installed: libesd-alsa0 gstreamer0.10-esd 5) Specs: Linux 2.6.22-14-generic Thunderbird 2.0.0.12 Firefox 2.0.0.13 and/or Swiftweasel 3.0b4.5 Multimedia audio controller: Silicon Integrated Systems [SiS] AC'97 Sound Controller (rev a0) -- Regression: Thunderbird New Mail sound cuts off before end https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/155648 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
