I'm seeing a number of other bug reports about similar misbehaviors on
-ati, like #199337, #206845, #202388, #209568, #197242, #214105,
#212510. You might peek at those and see if any of them are a match.
I'm planning on spending some a lot more time with -ati bugs during
Intrepid.
