Christian, Are you copying or cutting on the first step? Remember that if you cut (a folder for example) and then you drag and drop (equivalent to copy- paste across drives, or cut-paste across folders on same drive) you might actually have a conflicting transfer. If you cut, and then drag and drop the same folder to another directory, and then press paste. The paste is going to remove the files from the original location and put them in the new location while the drag and drop operation tries to copy them over. Did i understand the problem right? I could be wrong, this is just a guess.
