Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: xorg-driver-fglrx
Over the past few days, I've been getting intermittent freezes which
only happen when scrolling a media-heavy page or OOo document with lots
of images. The screen will go blank, followed quickly by a "clunk" sound
(similar to the sound of the fan or HDD turning off), and yet the power
is still on. CTRL + ALT + Backspace does not work, and neither does Alt
+ SysRq + RSEIUB. I have to do a hard reboot.
My system specs:
Ubuntu 8.04 Beta 32bit (latest updates)
AMD Turion 64 TL50 (Dual Core)
1GB RAM
ATI Radeon Xpress 1100 (using the latest restricted fglrx driver)
** Affects: linux-restricted-modules-2.6.24 (Ubuntu)
Importance: Undecided
Status: New
