For the record this is happening with what appears to be the latest checkgmail, 1.13-1ubuntu1. This latest version does not even run, and exits with:
File does not exist: at /usr/bin/checkgmail line 1246 A thread exited while 2 threads were running. Is that a different bug, or a result of this one?
