Public bug reported:
Hi,
When having WNC-0301 wireless card inserted into a pci-slot the regular
beta 6.10 installation halts during the splashscreen (the screen that
comes up when gnome is loading) and refuses to go any further.
This is similar to a problem I had under breezy where the machine also
refused to continue during splash-screen load into gnome. dmesg reported
under breezy that the driver "was old" and needed replacing. This
obviously could indicate a problem with the driver rt2500 driver shipped
with ubuntu per default - though im not sure. However setting the
network up after gnome had started worked fine. It did however require
that the wireless network was not enabled during startup.
Removing the wireless card allows ubuntu to boot up just fine
