Public bug reported: As I started to migrate data from an old laptop to a new one (Asus M50SA) which has 88E8055 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller (rev 13) I detected that copying the files from old laptop using sshfs didn't work properly. The amount of data being copied is up to 10 GB.
Once sshfs failed completely and segfaulted due to network errors. During the transfer new messages (e.g. sky2 eth0: rx error, status 0x2c20002 length 706) keep appearing in dmesg. So, now I'm very concerned that the file transfer worked ok and managed to transfer all the data correctly. The development (or rather bug fixing which has been going on since 2006 for 88E family) seems to be very active. In the latest kernel rc (2.6.25-rc9) there's a whole bunch of changes in the sky2 module (drivers/net/sky2.c 151 + 124 - 0 ! ) http://www.kernel.org/diff/diffview.cgi?file=%2Fpub%2Flinux%2Fkernel%2Fv2.6%2Ftesting%2Fpatch-2.6.25-rc9.bz2;z=4589 . I think it is vital to keep some new version of sky2 backported to hardy heron. ** Affects: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: linux-source-2.6.24 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: ethernet sky2 -- Sky2 rx errors causing sshfs & scp to fail and slow down https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/216236 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
