To clarify, the error message i got first at home was the same one i got the next day at work. Also, trying different sessions (gnome, gnome failsafe) instead of the default one seemed to start triggering the xkb error on every boot, even though the problem existed already for a week or so.
I update every day and the problem is still there btw.
