After logging into Gnome an error message appeared "Internal Error - Failed to
initialize HAL!"
Networking was disabled, and took a very long time to logout.
This issue appeared after the kernel 2.6.24-12-generic was updated. If i
use 2.6.24-12-generic there doesn't seem to be a problem.
tried reinstalling Hal package to no avail, stopping and then starting
hal ("/etc/init.d/hal stop" then start) but hal wont restart just hangs.
