Public bug reported:

I've been a rather satisfied user of Kubuntu Feisty until now. In
particular, I find the font rendering on Feisty to be superb. I use
DejaVu Sans-serief, size 11 as my default font under KDE, and I've set
to use the same font for GTK apps, so firefox also uses the same font.
Everything looks perfect and the fonts are all the same size no matter
which application.

Under Hardy Heron beta (kde 3.5.x), there are problems.

1. Font size 11 looks way bigger than on Feisty. On Feisty, it is the
ideal size for me, and the jump from point size 9 to 10 to 11 is
uniform. In Hardy Heron, 9 to 10 is fine, but 10 to 11 makes a huge
jump, making size 11 look almost like size 12 or 13. It's too big.
What's going on? Why isn't the font scaling up the size in uniform
chunks? Why is the jump from 10 to 11 so big?

2. The fonts in firefox are now slightly different in size from other
KDE apps, even though I have used the option in KDE to make GTK apps use
the same fonts as KDE. In fact, with size 11 selected, the KDE apps all
use big fonts, but firefox uses the correct-sized font, the same as I
have on Feisty.

This makes me think that the font handling in KDE has changed in a
subtle way recently. Can it be restored to the way it works in Feisty?
