I installed Ubuntu 6.10 'Edgy Eft' beta PPC64 and the sound worked fine with the Live CD and after install, but somehwere along the line, I also lost the sound through my external speakers due to upgrades. I can hear the internal speaker, but there is an issue at startup with a couple of poping sounds that could be dangerous to any speakers.
