Public bug reported: Binary package hint: apt
gutsy i386 apt_0.7.6ubuntu14_i386.deb Every time I do an apt-get update, the program hangs when it tries to get the Release file. (i.e. http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/gutsy/Release). It says waiting for headers and no data comes. The files in the 'partial' directory are 0 size. I've never been able to do an apt-get update due to this problem. The GET request for http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/gutsy/Release.gpg does work and it gets the full file (this is the one right before Release). I ran tcpdump and no data is coming back from the Release http request (will double check). I've also switched the protocol to ftp and the same problem occurs. I have searched the existing bugs and have found references to this problem but I have the latest version of apt for gutsy (apt_0.7.6ubuntu14_i386.deb) installed and I still get the hang. I have tried every remedy I could find on the internet and nothing works. - I do not have an http proxy and have no firewall issues. I can go to the files with my web browser without problem. - My network interface is working fine. I can reproduce this every time so if you need me to investigate, let me know. Other bugs I've read indicate this was intermittent but this happens for me every time. I have an Acer Aspire 1610-E12I12A, Intel Dual Core E2140 (but installed i386 anyway) ** Affects: apt (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- apt-get update hangs on headers every time (gutsy) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/216785 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
