There are several issues.
1) The main problem is that Amarok claims to know how to enable MP3's, but
after it executes the required apt-get command it still can't play them. There
is some magic combination of debs to install and then it works, but no one can
agree on what those debs are.
2) Ugrading a working Amarok disabled mp3 playing. Medibuntu was enabled
during the upgrade.
3) If universe is required for mp3 playing, then Amarok should notify the user.
My understanding is that only medibuntu should be needed, but either way there
is a problem.

Unfortunately I have mp3s working now, so I can't reproduce the original
problem.
