Hi Robert, as for the 64-bit issues, it's always a possibility, and it's hard to rule that out in this kind of investigation. I'm not sure how much the hfsprogs and kernel driver's are related, but I imagine stuff to do with fsck'ing the disk and the kernel driver must be fairly well in-step. It's well worth keeping this one open for Hardy + 1 in case you or others manage to reproduce it. I will keep my eyes open for similar issues raised on various groups and forums.
