Steps to Reproduce:
1. Boot PC connected Japanese keyboard with Ubuntu 8.10 Beta Desktop CD
2. Double click the 'Install' icon
3. Go to step 3
4. Select 'Japan' keyboard layout
5. Type ] on test box
6. You'll see \ in test box
