does realplayer use alsa or esd/pulseaudio?
Please try to turn on/off ESD (sound server - pulseaudio) in your gnome
sound configuration. and see if this changes anything after relogin.
If its really related to sound output then its not a firefox bug. Only
part that could be firefox related are buffering of input data.
