Just wanted to clarify that I am not sure if 'crashes X' is the proper description of what happens. None the less, EvilWM depends on either xfonts-100dpi or xfonts-75dpi (or both?, sorry if I don't know better) present in order to start. You can pass it a -fn option, but I think for most people it would be a dependency to have these fonts (well, my opinion at least, but I could be wrong).
