Public bug reported: Binary package hint: update-manager
When trying install updates in Update Manager from System -> Administration -> Update Manager, it complains that it can't get a lock on the cache. This seems to be caused by the fact that updates are being downloaded in the background as set as an option in System -> Administration -> Software Sources (ticked Automatic Updates and "Download all updates in background"). Shouldn't Update Manager make use of the current background process, or at least crash more gracefully? Running Hardy with all latest updates. ** Affects: update-manager (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Description changed: Binary package hint: update-manager When trying install updates in Update Manager from System -> Administration -> Update Manager, it complains that it can't get a lock on the cache.
