It takes me around an hour to reinstall ubuntu, on a dell 8400 w/ a 2yro
Pentium 4.

The current problem with 64-bit is that since it's new, not all the
kinks have been worked out in the software yet.  The same applies with
Microsoft Windows too, not just Linux OS's.

Remember that Ubuntu is free software, both in price and in freedom to
tinker, so you get what you pay for.  If you're pleased with Ubuntu's
performance, continue to use it.  If you're not, go back to using
whatever you were before.  I think almost everyone running Linux would
say you should use the OS that fits you best.

Thank you for giving Ubuntu a shot, and I'm sorry you're frustrated with
it.  As time passes, it can only get better by working through bug
reports like yours.  Thank you for your contribution to Ubuntu, whether
or not you end up using it!
