This issue is not reproducible for me. If I try to mount a Linux NFS
share that I don't have permission for, I consistently get an immediate
"permission denied" returned.
If you're seeing connection timeouts, that looks to me like a firewall
issue. Can you provide a network trace of the NFS traffic in the case
of this failure?
