it doesn't say why. It just says installation failed, and i go in to see
what distro it tried to download and install and it's the 64 bit
version. I really had not realized that the processor was a 64 bit.
Confirmed it here.
http://www.intel.com/products/processor_number/chart/core2duo.htm
since it is a 64 bit processor, and that's what it's trying to install
through the downloaded wubi from here
http://wubi-installer.org/
I'll try the install agian, and see if i can't get an actuall error
message or perhapse find some logs that tell me why it's failing.

Why exactly does the installation "fail"? Core 2 Duo is a 64 bit
processor so it shouldn't fail with either 64 bit or 32 bit images.

Wubi, Windows Ubuntu Installer: New Status in Ubuntu: New Bug
description: I have a Dell inspiron 1420 N series. It came with Ubuntu
7.10 installed (Yay!) i put windows on it to play 3d games That I
couldn't get to run in Wine. I wanted to try the Wubi installation just
to see how easy it was, so i could reccomend it to my die-hard Windoze
friends. Specs of this laptop are: Inspiron 1420, Intel Core 2 Duo
T5450, 1.66GHz, 667Mhz, 2ML2 Cache 2GB, DDR2, 667MHz 2 Dimm NVIDIA (R)
GeForce TM Go 8400M GS with 128MB dedicated graphic memory 120G 5400RPM
SATA Hard Drive Intel Centrino Core Duo Processor That is straight from
the dell website. When I use Wubi, the installation fails, because it is
downloading and trying to install the 64 bit version of Ubuntu 8.04.
Maybe they could put a drop down menu next to the requested Distro
(Ubuntu, Kubuntu, Xubuntu) that states 32 or 64 bit version? that way,
the Windoze people could also put a 32 bit version on their 64 bit
machine if they wanted. *shrugs* I know I can just download the CD and
use Wubi on it, just a heads up that the downloaded Wubi does this.
