Loye Young Thank you very much for you hints. Fortunately i don't have to use my desktop as a router any more, as i have already purchased a hardware adsl modem router. I have configured my desktop and laptop to have static ip addresses and everything works fine.
Once again thank you for the time you consumed to deal with my problem, i will keep your message in case a friend might need it.
